Q+A

What inspires you?
People. There are so many stories of people that inspire you to never give up. Stories of people that are faced with the most adverse circumstances one can imagine and live to lead a life of achievements. It puts everything in perspective.

Artist you would most like to collect?
I’ve followed the work of French painter Francois Bard for years and was lucky enough to purchase a piece over a decade ago. He is a figurative painter from France.

Wish list ‐ A mirror from artist Anish Kapoor for over my fireplace… or one of his outdoor sculptures. #NotHappening

When and where are you most creative?
Definitely first thing in the early morning at my table with a great cup of coffee.

Place you most like to escape?
Parrot Cay Turks & Caicos

What architect inspires you?
Right now, being from DC, I’d say architect David Adjaye. He designed the new National Museum of African American History on the national mall. A must visit! The entire exterior of the building is covered in a bronze mesh coated alloy. The visual at night is breathtaking.

What design tool can you not live without?
Tracing paper! I prefer to hand draw a floor plan on tracing paper free hand with various layouts before proceeding to a CAD program.

Your top design trend?
Matte white bath faucets and fixtures.

What does every space need?
Art!

Favorite food?
A real Philadelphia Cheese Steak, not to be confused with a steak and cheese.
