Pantone Spring Color Report 2016

Pantone, the global authority on all things color, recently unveiled their predictions for color as it relates to fashion. As we know, trends in fashion will translate to home design and décor. Keeping our eye on the colors of the moment allows us to be fashion forward in our homes.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute sums it up this way:

“Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves.”

People are seeking ways to disconnect and unwind. Color is a hugely influential factor in this, so designers are moving toward a more serene set of shades. Eco friendliness is a trend that continues to inspire, so colors inspired by earth’s beauty are part of the palette as well.

But brightness and optimism still rule the day, so color combinations of bright bold shades, tempered with classic and natural tones bring us the feel of 2016 through color.

The colors of the palette include:
• Rose Quartz, one of the Pantone Colors of the Year, a blush pink, gentle and carefree.
• Peach Echo, warm and bright, drawing upon its orange family roots, but with a softness and approachability.
• Serenity, the second Pantone Color of the Year, a calm and comforting blue.
• Snorkel Blue offers a second blue, deeper yet spirited.
• Buttercup, a happy and sunny yellow, bringing optimism and smiles to the palette.
• Limpet Shell, a third blue, fresh and flawless, tranquil and true.
• Lilac Gray, a neutral in the lineup, offers a purple undertone, calming and rich gray shade.
• Fiesta offers a pop as a bold and fiery red with yellow undertones. Paired with neutrals or the other shades in this spring’s array, it offers an interesting contrast without being overbearing.
• Iced Coffee rounds out the neutrals in this year’s list as a warm foundation of earth toned color.
• Green Flash is a bright and crisp green, full of promise and exploration!
