Quilts Reinterpreted

Adding luxurious texture and dimension to modern spaces is a reinterpretation of a vintage styling – quilts. A hot trend on fall fashion runways, quilts (and not your grandmother’s vintage blanket) were all the rage. Similar in feel to the iconic Chanel-styled handbag, the contemporary expression of this trend is showing up in leather, upholstery, and even wall coverings.

At the recent High Point Market, quilted motifs popped on gold and silver metallic lamps, black lacquered furnishings, and the more typical soft line upholstery textiles. Differing patterns, both traditional in feel as well as more geometric arrays, amped up the interest. Depending on the materials, styling and placement of the quilted motif, the effect can be either decidedly bold and masculine or clearly feminine.

Luxurious and well appointed, quilted furnishings and accessories are well suited to both modern and streamlined environments as well as transitional spaces. Classic with a modern twist, quilting of leather, metals, and fabrics adds an element of texture and depth to any space.
