Fabulous and Fresh Fretwork

fretwork

Throughout the exhibits at the recent High Point Market Fall Show was an abundance of fretwork. While traditional style fretwork tends toward classic designs cut into wood with a fretsaw, and plenty of traditional and timeless fretwork was on display, modern interpretations delighted the senses.

The interlaced decorative designs, both delicate and bold, were sighted in intricate furniture trim, visually stunning window insets, woven into striking rugs, and gracing wallcovering prints. Adding interest with fretwork simultaneously evokes a strong sense of classicism as well as a punch of modernity. With its curvaceous scroll-like designs, or more angular geometric motifs, fretwork catches the eye and serves as a beautiful option for adding additional pattern and texture in the space.

Fretwork style designs are also a simple and elegant way to add ethnic flair on virtually any surface. Whether your preference is to create an Asian feel, Grecian ambiance, or an Old World sensibility, fretwork is an adaptable and attractive choice.

High Point Market points the way to the hottest trends for the coming year. With the profusion of fretwork on display this year, expect to see this look in a wide variety of unexpected and interesting places over the coming months.
